Religious Liberty Commission Hustings Resource

Houses of Parliament at night

Hustings are a great way to find out where the candidates in your local area stand on the issues important to you. At hustings you can hear their positions on policy, local issues and the hot topics of the day. You can also ask questions which provides a fantastic opportunity for you to ask specific questions about the issues that matter most to you.

Religious liberty is a vitally important issue both in the UK and abroad. It is crucial that we have government that upholds, protects and promotes religious liberty for all people whether they have a faith or none.

The Evangelical Alliance supports Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which states, "everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance".

Too often religious liberty is relegated to the sidelines. But its too important an issue to ignore. The Religious Liberty Commission is strongly encouraging people to raise the persecution of Christians and other religious minorities with candidates - ensuring that they commit to promoting and protecting the freedom of religion or belief.

The Religious Liberty Commission (RLC) is a commission of the Evangelical Alliance. The RLC brings together organisations working on behalf of persecuted Christians to speak with one voice, encouraging the Church to stand with its persecuted brothers and sisters through prayer, advocacy and practical help, and calling on governments to use their influence. Current RLC partners are Christian Solidarity Worldwide, Open Doors and Release International.
